NASA released this morning photos and videos showing the historic landing of the Artemis II crew on Earth .
The images show the series of events from the deployment of the module's parachutes to the astronauts walking across the flight deck of the USS John P Murtha for evaluation in the medical center.
"This is the beginning of a new era of human space exploration," NASA says, following the crew's return.
On April 6, the spacecraft reached its maximum distance from Earth of 406,771 km (252,756 miles) during the lunar flyby, breaking the previous record for the farthest journey humans have ever traveled in space.
Welcome home Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy! ????
