United States Vice President JD Vance said today that Washington is ready to cooperate with Iran if the latter shows "good faith," as he headed to Pakistan for important talks between the two countries, according to the BBC.

Speaking to reporters before boarding the official "Air Force Two" plane, JD Vance said the US was looking forward to negotiations and was ready to cooperate with Iran, but warned that if the Iranian side "tried to play with the US," then the American response would not be the same.

He added that he had received instructions for these talks from US President Donald Trump.

Negotiations between US and Iranian delegations are expected to take place in Islamabad and begin tomorrow, according to a previous White House announcement, represented by spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt.

The American delegation will also include special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner.

Meanwhile, according to reports from Pakistan, the Iranian delegation has not yet arrived in Islamabad.

In parallel developments, a senior official has announced that Lebanon will participate in separate talks with Israel next week - only if a ceasefire is reached first.

There has also been uncertainty about whether the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran also includes Lebanon, where Hezbollah operates.

Pakistan, as a mediator, has confirmed Lebanon's involvement in the deal, while the US and Israel have denied this.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has criticized Iran for its handling of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it "very weak" and stressing that this was not the agreement reached.

These developments come at a time of high tensions in the region, where diplomatic efforts are being accompanied by uncertainty and mistrust between the parties.
