The Russian prison service has reported that critic and opponent of Vladimir Putin, Alexei Navalny, has died in a high-security prison.

"On February 16, 2024, in the correctional colony No. 3, the convict AA Navalny did not feel well after a walk, where he lost consciousness," says a statement.

"The medical workers of the institution arrived immediately and the emergency medical team was called. All the necessary resuscitation measures were carried out, but they did not give positive results. The emergency doctors have confirmed the death of the convict", says the conclusion, reports skynews.

We recall that the 47-year-old politician, a former lawyer who entered politics more than a decade ago by criticizing the leadership of the Russian president and widespread corruption, was in prison about 60 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle.
