Russian President Vladimir Putin has reminded his American counterpart Donald Trump that true peace requires an undeniable choice: Russia or Europe.

The message was clear and strong, the old continent cannot be part of the negotiations, otherwise nothing will be achieved.

Analysts explain that the harsh tones used by the Kremlin were not an emotional expression, but a strategic message to the American partner.

Putin feels that after the intervention of European leaders, the cards on the table have changed and new plans for dialogue do not interest him. He often emphasizes that the 28-point American plan, presented as a modernized version of his proposals during the historic meeting with Trump in Alaska, has not been respected by Europe and Ukraine.

For Putin, Europe's presence in the talks hinders Russian interests and makes a review of relations necessary.

"Apart from Europe, Russia has a more secure future. Partnerships with China and India are developing, trade is growing, and technological sovereignty is improving," a senior Russian official said.

Aleksandr Yakovenko, former ambassador to London and now rector of the Diplomatic Academy, underlines that Putin’s goal is to create as much distance as possible between the US and what he calls the “collective West.” According to him, Trump can revive American greatness by challenging the Atlantic alliance, which according to Putin has become a burden for the US.

In this context, Putin's message is like an ultimatum: Trump must side with Russia and remove Europe from the equation. Otherwise, their strategic relationship is jeopardized and Europe remains the main enemy in the image that Russian propaganda has created: as a supporter of "Ukrainian Nazis."

Essentially, the Kremlin is attempting to redirect global power according to Russian interests, forcing its American partner to make a clear decision in a game where Europe has no place.
