Europe must strengthen its security and the European pillar of NATO, as the international order is changing, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, stated on Tuesday at the conference of Croatian ambassadors, consuls and military attaches.
Jandroković warned in particular about Serbia's armament increase, emphasizing that Belgrade is not only purchasing defensive weapons, but also weapons of an offensive nature.
"Serbia is arming itself not only with defensive weapons, but also with offensive and assault weapons. And we should tell our Western allies this. We should not shy away from this," Jandrokovic said.
He said that Croatia will continue to support multilateralism, international law and international order, but must be aware of changes in the world and have a response to them.
According to Jandroković, it is important for Europe to strengthen its pillar within NATO, as for decades it has lived with the belief that the United States always supports it.
He assessed that this has caused Europe and some of its countries to neglect their security.
The Speaker of the Croatian Parliament also focused on the situation in the region, saying that Croatia must explain the developments in the Western Balkans to its Western partners.
He warned that new political elites in the West often do not know enough about the former Yugoslavia and do not have the memory of Slobodan Milosevic's policies and the dissolution of the former Yugoslav state.
