Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump faced an unexpected problem during their departure from London's Stansted Airport on Thursday, after being forced to switch helicopters due to a mechanical problem, the White House revealed.

As CNN reports, during their journey from Chequers, Prime Minister Keir Starmer's home, to the airport, the helicopter transporting the US president and the First Lady encountered a "hydraulic" problem.

The pilots decided to land the Marine One helicopter at a small airport simply for precautionary reasons, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt told reporters.

"The presidential couple boarded the support helicopter safely," Levitt said, and Air Force One eventually departed Britain late Thursday afternoon, returning to the United States.
