Floods in Greece

Greece has been hit by storm "Vyron" in recent hours.

The entire territory of the country has been hit by heavy rainfall, while civil protection has warned citizens of the Greek capital to avoid unnecessary movements.

As a result of the rainfall, many roads in the Hellenic capital were blocked, while water was observed in the eastern area of Attica and at the mouth of the Kifisos River.

The rains caused flooding in several areas, while firefighters reported receiving dozens of calls about flooded basements.

There were power outages in Sindagma and Pangrati. The Fener Bahçe-Olympiakos basketball match was canceled due to heavy rain. By decision of the Attica Prefecture, schools in Attica will be closed on Friday.

According to the Athens Meteorological Institute, the storm will continue until Friday morning and will then move towards the eastern Aegean where it is expected to cause problems in the area of the Cyclades islands and Rhodes in the east.
