A man in New Zealand has been arrested for robbery after he stole a diamond item in an unusual way, by swallowing it.
The medallion, a Fabergé egg worth $19,300, has not yet been recovered, police said.
Authorities were called to a jeweller's in Auckland on Friday afternoon and the 32-year-old was arrested in the act within minutes. He has undergone a medical examination and is in custody.
The egg contains 60 white diamonds and 15 blue sapphires, and when opened, a miniature octopus in 18-karat gold emerges.
The Octopus Egg, as it is known, is inspired by the 1983 James Bond film that has as its subject the theft of a Fabergé egg.
Fabergé is a world-famous jeweler founded in Russia two centuries ago, famous for its eggs with pearls and precious metals.
The suspect will appear in court on December 8. He has a previous criminal record for stealing an iPad from the same jewelry store on November 12.
