Prime Minister Edi Rama participated in the "Future Resilience Forum 2025", an international forum on security and global policies, held in London.
In his speech, Rama focused on the future of the European Union, emphasizing that the union is at a key moment and needs a clear orientation to avoid dangerous paths like Brexit, which he described as "political suicide."
"Europe is at a critical point. It must decide whether to fulfill the vision of the founding fathers, the most extraordinary project that man has ever created in politics, or to follow a catastrophic path like Brexit, the most unimaginable suicide you can see in real time," Rama said.
He stressed that to better understand the challenges facing Europe, it is important for European leaders to listen to perspectives from outside the continent. “To listen to the voices of the bright minds of Asia, the Global South, the Arab world, who see Europe as an old, tired giant that has not yet woken up to the fact that the world has changed,” the prime minister added.
Illustrating with the example of China, Rama warned that within two decades it is expected to have twice the economy of Europe, emphasizing the need for strategic wisdom and deep reforms in the old continent.
