According to media reports, the US Air Force has lost at least seven aircraft in its war with Iran.

As CNN reports, the downing of two American fighter jets yesterday in one day, in separate incidents, namely an F-15 and an A-10, has increased the total number of aircraft with crews lost in the conflict with Iran to seven.

On March 2, just days after the war began, three F-15 jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses in a “friendly fire” incident over Kuwait.

All six crew members managed to escape by parachute. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced this week that the three pilots have returned to flying missions against Iran.

On March 12, six American personnel were killed when a KC-135 tanker plane crashed in Iraq. The US military said the planes were involved in an incident with another aircraft during the operation in Iran that began on February 28. The other plane landed safely.

On March 27, an E-3 Sentry air warning and control aircraft was reportedly destroyed on the ground during an Iranian attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

The attack reportedly injured at least 10 US military personnel, although no casualties were reported. Sources said a US Air Force tanker plane was also damaged in the attack.

Citing two sources familiar with the situation, CNN reported that in another incident, a US F-35 fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing at a US base in the Middle East last month after being hit by what is believed to have been Iranian fire.

The region has been on high alert since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran on February 28, killing more than 1,340 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
