British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has reacted to the decision of the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to officially recognize the Palestinian state, stressing that this move should not be seen as a reward for Hamas.
Starmer said he had met British families of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and had seen firsthand "the pain and torture they experience every day."
He called for their immediate release, adding that "we will continue to fight to bring them home."
Speaking about the peace process, the British prime minister stressed that the demand for a two-state solution is "the opposite of Hamas' hateful vision."
"This decision is not a reward for Hamas," Starmer said, explaining that recognizing Palestine means Hamas can have no future, no role in governance, nor in security matters.
