Great Britain, Canada and Australia have officially recognized the state of Palestine today.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, announced that the United Kingdom has officially recognized Palestine as a sovereign state.

"Today, to rekindle hope for peace for Palestinians and Israelis, and for a two-state solution, the United Kingdom formally recognizes the State of Palestine ," Starmer wrote in "X."

While the office of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, in a published statement, said that " for many decades, Canada's commitment to a two-state solution has been based on the expectation that this would be achieved through a negotiated agreement."

Australia has also joined this historic initiative.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the decision to recognize the sovereign state of Palestine, which takes effect today, acting in coordination with the United Kingdom and Canada.

This step by the three G7 countries aims to create a new momentum for a two-state solution in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages from the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks, organized by Hamas.

This step is expected to provoke strong reactions from Israel, while the US has warned of possible consequences for countries that recognize Palestine.

At the same time, this move could strengthen international efforts for the release of hostages and for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
