Israel has violated the US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza at least 497 times over the past 44 days, causing the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians since the agreement came into effect on October 10, the Gaza Government Media Office reports.

According to the office, 342 civilians have been killed in Israeli attacks, with children, women and the elderly making up the majority of the victims.

"We strongly condemn the continued, serious and systematic violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli occupation authorities," the statement said on Saturday.

According to the office, these violations constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the humanitarian protocol annexed to the agreement. Of these violations, 27 occurred on Saturday alone, resulting in 24 deaths and 87 injuries. The officials added that Israel is fully responsible for the humanitarian and security consequences arising from its violations.

Israel continues to restrict vital aid and medical supplies to the Gaza population, restrictions that violate ceasefire obligations. On November 10, the Israeli military launched a wave of airstrikes across Gaza, killing at least 24 Palestinians, including children, in its latest violation of the six-week-old ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the attacks were carried out after a Hamas fighter attacked Israeli soldiers in the occupied territory inside the line known as the "yellow line."

"In response, Israel eliminated five senior Hamas fighters," the statement said.

"A ceasefire only on paper"

Hamas has demanded that Israel reveal the identity of the fighter who allegedly attacked Israeli forces. Izzat al-Risheq, a senior member of Hamas's Political Bureau, called on the deal's mediators and the US administration to pressure Israel to honor the agreement.

"Israel is inventing excuses to avoid the agreement and return to a war of extermination," he said.

Reports from Gaza indicate that the ceasefire exists only “in name,” as Israeli forces continue airstrikes, leaving Palestinians with a deep sense of insecurity. Several Palestinian families are trapped in northern Gaza, while the Israeli army has positioned its forces deeper into the enclave, violating the agreement.

In the agreement, the “yellow line” is an undefined border where Israeli forces have established their positions, maintaining control over more than half of the coastal territory. Hamas accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire “under fabricated excuses” and calls on the mediators, the US, Egypt and Qatar, to intervene immediately.
