Prime Minister Albin Kurti traveled this Monday to North Macedonia, where he held a meeting with his Macedonian counterpart, Hristjan Mickoski.
After a "head-to-head" meeting, the leaders of the two countries held a joint press conference where the not-so-elegant situation recorded days before, where the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, was detained at the airport Skopje.
Regarding this incident, the Prime Minister of Kosovo spoke for the first time and requested that this situation not be repeated.
He has called on the authorities of North Macedonia to give maximum importance and to make possible the complete clarification of this not at all elegant incident, not only for President Osmani and the two little girls but for all Kosovar Albanians and North Macedonia.
"Without a doubt, it was a difficult experience for President Vjosa Osmani, on August 2 at the Skopje airport, she was with her family and two little girls. The authorities of North Macedonia, the heads of state here have expressed regret for the case. There will be an official report that will clarify this issue, and let us understand what happened and never repeat such a situation" , said Kurti, emphasizing, among other things, that Kosovo has not had any official position to have said that the event involving the country's president was a provocation by the authorities of North Macedonia.
"I don't know that we have had such a position as institutions that it was a provocation, but not the institutions of the Republic. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given its position, which is the position of the Republic of Kosovo, and we have also seen the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia. I believe we should aim for the truth and assess the tension. So let the case be clarified, it is the institutions that do this. We cannot do the customs officer, the police officer and the one who supervises the airport ", said Kurti, among other things.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristjan Mickoski, said that he is sorry for the incident that President Osmani had to go through, as he promised that in the next meeting he will personally accompany her until the moment she leaves. .
"We are sorry and we don't want it to happen again. I personally emphasized that the president of Kosovo is welcome as well as all the citizens of Kosovo and next time, if I receive information in time, I will be happy to wait for her at the airport of Skopje and accompany her during the time she will spend at the airport of Skopje to avoid these incidents and behavior of individuals, which is our internal problem that we will solve within our state" , he said.
It is worth noting that until now Prime Minister Kurti had not reacted regarding this situation in which President Osmani was involved.
This silence of the head of the government of Kosovo was interpreted by various analysts as a "cooling off" between Kurti and Osmani and that the two heads of state have disagreements with each other.
