Researcher Auron Tare has raised concerns about uncritical construction within part of the protected area of Butrint National Park.
On his Facebook account, Tare, who is one of the most vocal activists in our country and who tries to protect every inch of Albanian land, has published footage from the open construction site in Butrint.
According to Tare, this area during the 1990s was destined for construction by the Berisha 1 government, but was placed under protection thanks to the efforts of the Butrinti Foundation and the then Minister of Culture, Arta Dade , and later by Edi Rama, as well as the then Prime Minister Fatos Nano and the President, Rexhep Mejdani .
This country was then considered one of the most important achievements of the Socialist Party after 1997, but it seems that in recent years this decision has been undermined.
"Today's sights speak for themselves," says Tare, ironically implying that under the leadership of Minister Mirela Kumbaro and her associates, this area is being "desecrated" by concrete.
The published footage shows a construction site with scaffolding, concrete mixers and workers, while a large complex is being built near the coastline, in an area that has historically had protected status.
" This is the view today of part of the protected area of the Butrint National Park. During the 90s, destined for construction by the Berisha 1 Government, it was put under protection thanks to the efforts of the Butrint Foundation and the Minister of Culture Arta Dade and later Edi Rama, as well as CM Fatos Nano and President Mejdani. It was one of the great works of the Socialist Party after 97. Today, thanks to the dedicated work of Minister Kumbaro & Co, the views speak for themselves ," writes Tare.
