Another change will happen with the "Mother Teresa" square in Tirana, where after the fountain and the giant carpet, it is the turn of an installation. The Municipality of Tirana has opened the tender for the construction of the installation called "Tirana Mooons", while the value of the entire construction reaches the figure of over 390 thousand euros.
This work will be located in the middle of the square, while one of the design firms was the one that designed the "Eden" park, located in the middle of the Prime Minister's Office, for which the Albanian Development Fund spent an amount of 3.6 million euros.
VoxNews has obtained the tender documents, where the work will be placed in the middle of the square, while it will also be "covered" by several trees. Meanwhile, inside there will be several wooden structures, in the shape of a moon.
According to the documents, the fund of 390 thousand euros was provided by the Municipality of Tirana according to the decision of the Municipal Council in October 2024. It is learned that the construction deadline will be 6 months, while the tender procedure will take place on January 21, 2025.
The accompanying documents state that the modular "moon" structure is a spherical pavilion made primarily of wood and fabric.
“The structure consists of an elegant circular frame made of ring-shaped wooden beams. These beams form a spherical skeleton that supports the rest of the structure. The curves intersect, giving the impression of a section of a dome or sphere. This design is both modern and geometric, making it visually pleasing while maintaining a natural aesthetic,” the documents state.
In the accompanying documents, it is written that the floor will be made of wooden planks, placed with a platform divided into two symmetrical halves. "The dome-like canopy appears to be made of a fabric material. This can provide shade while allowing light to pass through, creating a comfortable and airy space below. The 'moon' module is composed of elements that are placed on top of each other in three stages of assembly and conception. Initially in phase 1 the module consists of 5 laminated wooden rings with a cross technique which are joined with ring joints to each other and to the concrete base with the sides of the rings with adjustment," the documents write.
One of the firms that has done the project is "Studio Precht", which has also done the "Eden" park located in the middle of the prime minister's office. Meanwhile, another firm "UDV ARCHITECTS" has done several construction projects, such as the palace at the former exhibition or the dormitories in Kamëz.
