
Albanians have paid more to insure property, life, health and vehicles during the first half of the year. The data of the Financial Supervision Authority show that in 6 months, the income from gross written insurance premiums reached the value of 11.8 billion ALL, about 833 million ALL more than in the same period of the previous year. Also, the total number of concluded insurance contracts reached over 699 thousand at the end of June.
But the growing trend comes as a result of mandatory insurance. From the perspective of market division by type of insurance, gross written premiums of compulsory insurance accounted for over 55.92% of the total market, leaving behind voluntary insurance at around 44%.
On the other hand, voluntary insurance decreased by 5.2% compared to the 6th month of 2023. Fearful of the current situation in the summer season, one of the factors that affected voluntary insurance is fire and disaster insurance.
In general, the market remains oriented towards non-life insurance which brought 91.31% of the total volume of premiums, while Life insurance has 8.64% and reinsurance with 0.048%.
