Inflation, which measures the change in prices of a basic basket of consumer goods, was low in July at 2.1%, but some services and goods necessary for the summer season saw the highest growth.

INSTAT announced that there are two service products that have become more expensive in July.

In first place are air conditioners, which at the height of the heat became more expensive by 7.1% in July. This is the second highest growth of this product in recent decades, after that of February 2023.

Another service that is experiencing continuous growth is that of hotel accommodation. In July, according to INSTAT, hotel prices rose by an average of 5.4%.

Since 2018, when tourists' interest in Albania began and tourist agencies began to bring organized tourists, hotel prices have had an upward trend.

This trend was especially strong this season, mainly in the hotels of the South, driven both by the high demand in the first months of the year and the increase in employee costs and the fall of the euro, which reduced the income in Lek of the accommodation structures.

According to a previous Monitor observation, hotel accommodation in this summer season in Albania has become more expensive, especially in the South. Hotel prices have increased between 5-90%.

Tour operators claim that a moderately priced hotel can be found at the level of 50 euros in Vlora, with an increase of 25% compared to a year ago.

Meanwhile, structures with moderately high prices range from 250 euros with breakfast. Even for these structures, the increase is by 25% compared to the previous year. Further south, after passing Llogorana where Palasa is located, the epicenter are the tourist villas.

The latter can be secured for a price of 350 euros a night for those with 2 bedrooms up to 1000 or 1500 euros a night for those with four bedrooms and other amenities.

Prices in this area seem to have remained the same compared to a year ago for small villas and have increased for those with higher accommodation capacity.

In Dhërmi, it seems that the growth is even more visible. In 2023, a double room cost 60 euros.

While today, the minimum price you can find for a hotel is 85 euros, i.e. with an increase of 42%, while for hotels in the most luxurious segment (not the most expensive), the average of expensive hotels results in 300 euros with breakfast or a 50% increase compared to the previous year.

In Jal, the number of hotel accommodation structures is still limited, as a reference, villas on one of the most frequented beaches have generally served, where the cost for one night is 350 euros with an increase of 16%.

In Himara, there is also an increase in prices for low average hotels, which went from 45 euros last year to 80 euros, while high average prices have increased by 12.5%.
