The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MEI) during these 5 months of 2022 has initiated procedures for the revocation of at least 23 mining permits.

Most of the revocations according to official figures were made during February. The reasons for the revocations are various, but the one that dominates is according to MEI the fact that the subjects have not complied with the requirements of the mining legislation regarding the payment of the financial rehabilitation guarantee for the previous year.

Another reason that can be found in the letters sent to the subjects for initiating the procedure of revocation of the mining permit has to do with the fact that in many cases the requirements of the mining legislation regarding the cessation of the activity have been respected. It turns out that the facility has not been worked on for more than a calendar year, bypassing the use of the permit.

The revocation of the permit was made even in cases when it was found that there was an accident in the mining facility and when the analysis of the situation concluded that it occurred as a result of lack of technical discipline violation of technical safety rules.

According to the legislation in force, there are a large number of problems that can be ascertained by the authorities and that can lead to the revocation of the permit in addition to those that have been encountered most in this year's cases.

Such are the findings that in the documentation there are false data to not start the activity after obtaining the permit or when the royalty is not paid.

The amended law of 2010, which regulates the mining sector, provides for revocation and the holder of the mining exploitation license of the group of metallic, non-metallic minerals, coal and bitumen or the group of construction minerals continues to use harmful practices of mining and treatment of minerals. or directs work operations contrary to the approved project.

Also when the holder of the mining permit does not respect the requirements of the rehabilitation plan, the closure plan of the mining activity and the waste management plan./Monitor
