After being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic for two years, the tourism sector is showing signs of recovery in many parts of the world, with the United States, Japan, Spain, France and Germany leading the list.

Albania is ranked 38th in the Global Travel and Tourism Development Index, from 37th in 2019.

The World Economic Forum on Tuesday published the Travel and Tourism Development Index 2021: Reconstruction for a Sustainable and Resilient Future, which ranked 117 economies on a range of factors that are essential to the development, sustainability and resilience of the travel and tourism industry. which in turn contributes to economic and social development.

"Covid-19 closures have re-emphasized the significant contribution of travel and tourism to many economies around the world," said Lauren Uppink, Head of Aviation, Travel and Tourism at the World Economic Forum.

"As the world emerges from the pandemic, economies need to invest in building a strong and resilient environment to provide travel and tourism experience and services for many decades to come," Uppink added.

Ndërsa turizmi i përgjithshëm ndërkombëtar dhe udhëtimet e biznesit janë ende nën nivelet para pandemisë, rimëkëmbja e sektorit është përforcuar nga normat më të larta të vaksinimit, hapja e udhëtimeve dhe kërkesa në rritje për turizmin vendas, kryesisht me fokus natyrën.

Shumë biznese dhe destinacione i janë përshtatur këtyre dinamikave të ndryshimit të kërkesës.

Sipas vlerësimeve, diferenca në ardhjet ndërkombëtare të turistëve midis janarit 2021 dhe janarit 2022 është më e madhe se rritja në total  e numrit të turistëve në të gjithë vitin 2021.

Përveç Shteteve të Bashkuara, 10 ekonomitë që kryesojnë listën janë ekonomi me të ardhura të larta në Europë dhe në rajonin e Azi-Paqësorit.
