The state budget is collecting more income from the tax, which is directly related to the level of consumption by Albanian citizens, for basket products, but not only.

The official data of the Ministry of Finance shows that the gross income from the Value Added Tax in the 7-month period was recorded at the level of 137 billion alleks, with an increase of 17 billion alleks compared to the previous year. And despite the fact that the refunds given by the budget for VAT have increased by 4 billion ALL during this period, the net income is still 12.8 billion ALL, or about 128 million euros higher than the same period a year ago.

The biggest weight is occupied by the VAT collected on imports by the customs administration, where 89.5 billion ALL were collected in 7 months, marking an increase of 7.9% compared to the previous year, despite the exchange rate, which continues to be in favor of the lek, which shows the growing demand of citizens for food and non-food products.

However, the biggest increase in percentage is the income from VAT collected (net) within the country, taxes administered, which were realized in the amount of 32.7 billion lek, with a jump of 6.3 billion lek or 23.7% more than the 7-month 2023

What is shown by the data processed by SCAN TV, is that if we analyze the same period in the last 5 years, the growth is progressive and 2024 marks a record in VAT revenues and almost a doubling compared to the year 2020, when the net VAT collected was recorded at 69.8 billion ALL.

Among the factors that have influenced this performance is the increase in the number of tourists in our country, the normalization of prices during this year, which has pushed citizens to increase demand and consumption. On the other hand, the reform of salary increase in the administration has also had a major impact, which has given citizens more opportunities to spend. This reform has also set the private sector in motion.
