Euro starts August with a decline, sets a new record

The European currency has started August with another negative record decline. According to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania, one euro today was exchanged for an average of 93.3 lekë.

The euro's decline has deepened even further as the peak of the summer season approaches, due to the high flow of foreign currency entering the country.

This Monday, one euro is being bought from citizens at exchange points for 93 lek and sold for 93.6 lek.

These are the lowest values ??ever recorded and compared to August last year, it has decreased by 4.2%.

To stabilize the exchange rate and prevent an even stronger depreciation, the Bank of Albania is intervening in the market by purchasing foreign exchange, causing foreign exchange reserves to reach a record figure of 7.8 billion euros at the end of June.
