A large-scale fire engulfed the used clothes market yesterday afternoon around 18:55 in the "Ndoc Mazi" neighborhood in Shkodër.

The fire first started inside the market, spreading to the nearby apartments, burning 5 of them. 25 commercial units were engulfed in the fire, with used clothes helping to spread the flames.

In their testimony, today's merchants speak with tears in their eyes and upset because they have made a living from this work and have no other income.

Merchant 1:  Aman mor. We are fine with everything, what they asked us, we paid them. We have millions, we have the soul, we have the heart, we have everything here. Thank God that we have escaped with our heads. The state should think for us that we have a living, a day without work here, a day without bread. We have families, we have sick people at home. We are all needy, we are the most tired layer of society. We have them with our sweat, blood and soul, please put your hand on your heart for these families here. I'm completely shocked, I don't know what to say. We all have troubles and problems .

Trader 2:  We have the market here. We have been working here for 22 years. We raised our children with this work. I don't know how it happened. This work has never happened to me. All goods were inside. I personally have about 10 million. It turned us off. 6 of us live only with this job, we have no other income for 22 years. The market has had guards. We don't know where the fire came from, because we worked until 1:30, closed the store and ran away from the house. The guard was there. HOW it happened God knows. We want help from the state and to make us another market because we are on the big road.

Trader 3 :  We had a living, I come here from Berdica. The set of goods is burned as if I received it. We did it with 1 thousand aunts, buying the place with debts to live on, now we got this job too.

Trader 4:  The biggest appeal is to find us a job, everything is screwed up.

The firefighter, who worked together with other structures to extinguish the flames in the clothes market, also gave a statement to the media, who said that they had never encountered such a situation in Shkodër before.

Firefighter:  After receiving the notification, we put 7 fire extinguishers into action in terms of extinguishing the fire in the market of the Perash neighborhood. In this operation, all means have been engaged and they have also come to our aid from other cities. It was one of the most difficult cases, the fire was immediate, there was an unprecedented momentum that had never happened to us in the Shkodra area.
