Azgan Mrnica will serve a life sentence.

This is the decision given this Wednesday by the Fier court for the 24-year-old man who a year ago took the life of police officer Novruz Cenalia.

The serious incident occurred on May 13, 2024, in the village of Baltëz in Fier.

The 24-year-old was tried on charges of murdering a police officer, which also carries a maximum sentence, illegal possession of a weapon, and reckless driving.

According to the Fier Prosecution, which read the complaint on July 10, the conflict that led to the use of a weapon began after the "Eagles" police officer stopped Mrnica to draw his attention to why he was turning too fast.

He then stopped his vehicle, approached the police officer, who was wearing a work uniform and was identifiable as part of the police structure, and shot him in the face, leaving him dead on the spot.

After the incident, the perpetrator fled and only after 3 days of searching, following negotiations between the police and his family, did he agree to surrender.
