A new development has occurred in the trial for the murder of 22-year-old Albanian Ilaria Sula, where the accused Mark Antony Samson has given testimony before the Serious Crimes Court in Rome.
During the hearing held in the high-security premises of "Rebibbia Prison", the 24-year-old admitted that he is unable to fully explain his actions at the time of the crime.
"I can't explain what happened to me. It was like a curtain had blocked my eyes... I don't remember how many times I hit him, but definitely more than twice," he told the jury.
The incident occurred on March 23, 2025, in Samson's apartment in Rome, where Ilaria was stabbed to death.
The accused also admitted that in previous testimonies he had not always told the truth, claiming that he had attempted to protect his mother, who had previously been involved in the investigation and was convicted of hiding a body.
He added that Ilaria was "angry and disappointed" after discovering his lies about his university studies, the media wrote .
The victim's parents were also present at the hearing, and they experienced difficult emotional moments. Ilaria's mother was forced to leave the courtroom for a few minutes due to her serious condition.
"These are very difficult days. Hearing these things and remembering the last moments of my daughter's life is incredibly painful," she said.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old's father stressed that the family is not seeking revenge, but justice: "I'm not seeking revenge, just justice. And justice means life imprisonment," he declared.
