The former socialist mayor of Vora, Agim Kajmaku, has left the prison cell in Italy, after the Court of Fermo has acquitted him.
In the court hearing, Kajmaku was defended by lawyers Ariol Kondi and Paolo Rossi. It is learned that Agim Kajmaku's grandson, Edmond Kajmaku, has also been acquitted.
The arrest of Agim Kajmaku
Agim Kajmaku, the former mayor of Vora, had gone to Italy a week before he was arrested by Marche police at noon on May 25, 2022, accused of hiding 20 kilograms of cocaine inside flower pots he bought for his business.
According to data from the TIMS system, Agim Kajmaku traveled by plane from Tirana to Ancona on May 20, while 5 days later he was arrested in the act near a nursery in Grottamare, near San Benedeto di Tronto, together with his nephew, Edmond Kajmaku.
After the arrest of Kajmaku in Italy, an operation was also carried out in Albania, at the Port of Durrës, on the truck driven by the former mayor's brother, Ladi Kajmaku. The floor of the vacated truck was modified with places suitable for transporting drugs, but only fish pieces and no drugs were found inside.
For about 60 days, Kajmaku and the group he served were under strict 24-hour surveillance by the Italian police.
