Police officer of Police Station No. 5 in Tirana,  Aurel Kaziu , arrested the day before at the Mendara border crossing by the Kosovo Police, has been suspended from duty by the Directorate of Professional Standards in the State Police.

The 28-year-old left for Kosovo after closing the night shift and then had 2 days off, without informing his superiors about going abroad.

He has been part of the police for about 3 years, and even earlier he was involved in the transport of goods from Albania to European countries and the United Kingdom, and vice versa, to Albanian immigrants there.

The considerable amount of money that was seized, 1 million euros , is suspected to belong to someone else, proceeds from criminal activities, and Kaziu and the other 2 people were bringing it illegally.

Contact with the Kosovo authorities is expected to clarify the full circumstances of the involvement of police officer Kaziu.
