22-year-old Kenyan Joyce Achieng Aoko, who has been in critical condition for several months, was transferred today to her hometown in Kenya. The news was made known by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya, which announced the return of the young woman.
Joy worked in a casino in Tirana and a few months ago, she was brutally raped, throwing her from the second floor of the hotel where she was staying, but the incident still remains a mystery, as the police hid the incident for a while .
In a statement released on January 25, Kenya's Department of State for Diaspora Affairs announced that it was arranging for her repatriation after her condition worsened.
"We felt it was appropriate and in Aoko's best interest to bring her home to complete her healing journey among her loved ones," the letter read in part.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry added that Aoko, who had been hospitalized in Albania for months, needed specialized medical care.
"She was hospitalized for treatment and is in critical condition. "Unfortunately, she needed specialized neurological care that was not available in Albania," the Kenyan Foreign Ministry said.
Joy together with her mother is expected to arrive at Wilson Airport at 8pm where she will be met by Roseline Njogu, the first secretary for Diaspora Affairs
