For two days now, a fire has engulfed the Bushati landfill near Shkodra, causing serious pollution for residents living near this waste landfill.

The influence of the clouds and the heavy smell of smoke have also affected Shkodra.

According to the deputy mayor of the municipality of Vau i Dejës, in whose territory this landfill is located, the fire in the waste massif is suspected to have occurred as a result of chemical reactions in the waste.

The Bushati landfill has been managed by a private company since 2011, which has acquired the right to this management for 35 years.
