Farmers in the Maliq plain, mainly in the villages of Pirg and Zvirinë, are facing an increasingly difficult situation in marketing their agricultural products.
The onions produced have remained in stock, while in the absence of a market, the accumulated quantities are rotting and being thrown away.
According to them, the current price offered by traders, up to 20 lek per kilogram, is very low and does not even cover production costs.
On the other hand, farmers emphasize that market demand is weak, mainly due to increased imports.
Disappointed by this situation, some farmers have chosen to protest symbolically, throwing their produce into plots and canals as a sign of revolt against the difficulties they face in the agricultural sector.
Farmers are seeking state intervention to support them with domestic production and to create favorable conditions for the sale of agricultural products in the domestic market.
