The Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, has reacted through a message of condolence after the tragedy that shook the coastal city today, where a drunk driver hit three children with his car, two of whom died instantly, while a third is fighting for his life in hospital.

Sako writes that today is a day of mourning for all of Durrës, expressing that as a mother she shares the immense pain with the families of the deceased children. She also emphasizes that this serious accident should serve as a call for deep reflection, both for institutions and society. 

"The loss of the lives of two angels today has become a day of mourning for all of Durrës. As a mother, I share the extraordinary pain with the children's families and express my most sincere condolences."

Let's pray together for the boy who is in the Trauma Hospital, that he gets through this difficult moment and returns to his family as soon as possible.

"This serious accident should serve as a call for deep reflection, not only for institutions, but for all of us as individuals, parents, citizens and society. May they rest in peace," Sako said in her post on social media.

We recall that four children were playing on the sidewalk near their apartment in the Spitalla area, at the moment when the "Benz ML" vehicle driven by Nikoll Radaçi hit three minors, while a fourth miraculously escaped the accident.

Two children died immediately at the scene, while the third child was transported to the Trauma Hospital, where he is in serious condition. It is suspected that the 57-year-old driver of the “Benz ML” car was drunk at the wheel.
