The Korça Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage announced that the conservation intervention in the Church of "Saint Kolli" in Voskopoja has been completed, making it possible to recover the colors, details and clarity of the frescoes that had been lost under the layers of writings on them.

"A powerful testament to how much the beauty of our heritage can be restored when we take care of it," DRTK Korça wrote on social media, also sharing the recovered image of a saint.

The Church of “Shën Kolli”, built in 1721, is one of the pearls of Voskopoja. It is located just 20 minutes from Korça. The original frescoes by David Selenica and the Zografi brothers, together with the post-Byzantine architecture and the unique decor of the nave, make this church a must-see for any traveler seeking true history and art.

The Church of “St. Col.” in Voskopoja represents tangible evidence of the historical importance of the former city. It is located in the center of Voskopoja and is the most important church for its architecture with all the elements of the post-Byzantine basilica type, which has survived to this day.

This church has it all: nave, narthex, arcade and bell tower. The iconostasis of this church was masterfully crafted by Hieromonk Constantine around 1722-1726, one of the greatest masters of icon painting in the early 18th century. Today, some of the original icons are part of the National Museum of Medieval Art in Korça.
