Two days after undergoing an operation to remove appendicitis, Prime Minister Edi Rama appeared at an iftar table laid out for the faithful.
His wife, Linda, gave the opening speech instead.
"Not every bad thing is bad. Even Ed's appendicitis, I can say, was not just a bad thing. After thanking for the intervention, today you will only hear a short greeting from me", she said.
During her speech, Mrs. Rama also told an episode that happened to her in the hospital, the night the head of government was hospitalized to perform the intervention, while she also thanked the doctors and nurses for the care they showed.
"I was sitting in a chair, just after midnight. One of them approaches me and asks me in a low voice: Shall I bring you a pillow... He left a small pillow in my hand that I kept around my neck all night. When it dawned, I saw that the pillow was a baby pillow... It's my daughter's, she told me, I carry it with me when I'm at work at night. I looked at her with admiration for her spirit and asked her, what is the girl's name. Ajlina told me. "Ajlina, the angel with the old Muslim name, had stayed with me like moonlight on a difficult night in the month of Ramadan," said Linda.
