Four members of two organised crime groups, including two Albanians, have been convicted in the UK for a sophisticated cocaine smuggling operation through Manchester Airport. The operation, carried out by the National Crime Agency (NCA), uncovered a network that was bringing large quantities of drugs from Mexico to the UK.
The convicted Albanians are Elton Hallaçi, 32, and Artur Iseberi, 27, who according to authorities were part of a group that received drugs at the airport and then distributed them to criminal networks throughout the country. Along with them, two Britons, Dale Hosker, 49, and Dale Creen, 35, were also involved.
The court sentenced Elton Hallaç to 21 years and 7 months in prison, while Artur Iseberi was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
According to investigations, the four convicts received cocaine shipments from American couriers arriving in Britain from Cancun, Mexico.
In May 2024, eight suitcases of cocaine arrived at Manchester Airport, with couriers acting on the instructions of a person identified as “Nate”. One of the suitcases was left behind at the airport, which raised the suspicions of border officers. During the search, 20 packages containing one kilogram of cocaine were discovered. Further investigations by the NCA revealed that the group of Albanians had taken around 100 kilograms of the drug from this shipment.
Just a few weeks later, another smuggling operation was uncovered by authorities, where 300 kilograms of high-purity cocaine, worth around £24 million, were smuggled into Britain in 12 suitcases. During searches at Elton Hallaç’s apartment, investigators found keys to a Jaguar vehicle, inside which a professional secret space for drug transport had been built.
Also, notebooks with detailed data on drug imports, written in Albanian and with Hallaç and Iseber's fingerprints, were seized.
British authorities described the case as one of the largest operations uncovered in recent years in cocaine trafficking to Europe.
