Farmers in Greece are continuing their protests even during the Christmas holidays, maintaining blockades on main road axes, but at the same time taking measures to not severely hinder the movement of citizens.

From the blockade of Nikaias, which is considered the "heart" of the protests in Thessaly, farmers decided in their assembly to symbolically block the Tempi tunnels for trucks today, from 10:30 to 15:30. Tractors will be moved towards the Athens-Thessaloniki highway, while cars and buses will be allowed to circulate normally.

According to the decisions taken, from Tuesday onwards, the tractors in Nikaia will be reorganized in order not to create problems for the increased flow of travelers during the holidays. The same practice is expected to be followed in other blockades, while the farmers will gather again in the coming days to decide on further steps on New Year's Eve.

Blockade in Central Greece

In Central Greece, farmers remain steadfast in their blockades, stressing that they will not withdraw unless their demands are met. In the Bralos area, tractors continue to stand on the national road, but for today it was decided not to block the side roads and the provincial network, in order to avoid serious traffic problems.

The President of the Agricultural Association of Lamia, Giorgos Paliouras, stressed that this is a conscious choice to facilitate the passage of citizens during the holidays, warning that after them the mobilizations will intensify. In the blockade of Atalanti, farmers are expected to decide at noon whether to reopen the toll booths in Tragana, at the 125th kilometer of the Athens-Lamia national road.

Meanwhile, in Chalkida, farmers from Evia have announced a three-hour blockade of the High Bridge, from 18:00 to 21:00, with traffic diverted only from the old bridge. In Kastro and Thebes, tractors remain lined up, while local assemblies will decide on future actions. For the coming days, farmers plan to keep one lane open in each direction, to facilitate festive travel.

Mobilizations also in Epirus

Protests continue in Epirus, where farmers, livestock keepers and beekeepers are present at four main blockades: Artë, Louro in Preveza, Kalpaki in Ioannina and Igoumenitsa. In Artë, tractors are standing on the Ionia Chamber bridge in both directions, while a similar situation is present in Louro.

In Igoumenitsa, farmers distributed tangerines at Tyria's toll booths as a thank you to citizens who have shown patience and understanding. Tonight, from 20:00 to 22:00, a two-hour blockade of the outer port of Igoumenitsa for trucks has been announced. Also, in Kalpaki, another three-hour blockade will take place for trucks moving to and from the Greek-Albanian border in Kakavija.

The farmers of Epirus declare that they will continue their mobilizations until all their demands are met. Despite the protests, the festive atmosphere is not lacking, as in some blockades they have even decorated Christmas trees, sending the message that their "struggle" does not stop even during the holidays.
