"I drank cocaine" - The accused in the death of the 19-year-old

The 22-year-old Albanian, who turns out to have been the last person in the hotel room where 19-year-old Myrto from Kefalonia, who tragically lost her life from a cocaine overdose, spent the last hours of her life, categorically denies the accusations against him.

The young man admitted before the investigating judge that he knew the 26-year-old, former weightlifter who provided him with the cocaine, but denied knowing the 23-year-old, the victim's boyfriend, or the latter himself.

Regarding his presence at the hotel on the fateful night, he stated that it was coincidental, as he had gone to meet another person who was staying there for the Easter holidays, while describing the accusation against him as unfair.

"I did not go to the hotel to meet the accused or the 19-year-old. Yes, I know the 26-year-old, but I did not go to find them. I was staying in another room and had gone to meet another person who was there for Easter."

I have no connection with the other accused. I did not consume alcohol or substances with them. There was a knock on my door at around 04:20 for help. I went to help and saw that the girl was not well.

"In the video it appears that when I go down the stairs I am holding her jacket. I waited for the ambulance, I did not leave. I do not know the girl. From the calls it appears that I have not had any communication with them before. It is not my business what happened in the room, as I was not there, except when they asked me for help. The accusation against me is unfair," he declared.

On the other hand, the 26-year-old, a former weightlifter, admitted to the investigator that he had twice purchased narcotics for consumption in the room where the 19-year-old was also located.

He stated that the second use occurred around 4:00 a.m., at which point the girl's condition worsened.

"I thought she was having an epileptic seizure," he said, adding that he tried to help her by putting his hand in her mouth to prevent her tongue from getting stuck. According to him, there are also bite marks on her fingers and he has requested forensic expertise to confirm this.

He also admitted that he initially lied to authorities, denying that he was with the 19-year-old that night.

According to the 26-year-old, the 22-year-old was in an adjacent room and was called for help when the situation became serious. He claimed that his friend opened the way for the girl to be transported, while he himself carried her down in his arms. They then placed her outside and covered her with a coat until the ambulance arrived. Both claim that they did not abandon the 19-year-old.

The three arrested, aged 22, 23 and 26, appeared before the investigator and prosecutor on Friday. They have been charged with "intentional murder by omission", under Articles 299 and 15 of the Criminal Code, an offence punishable by life imprisonment.

The 22-year-old Albanian's lawyer stated that his client has no connection to the incident, emphasizing that he appeared at the scene about three hours after the victim's arrival at the hotel.

On the other hand, the 23-year-old's lawyer raised questions about the medical treatment, stating that the girl arrived at the hospital alive.

"Where were the doctors? There was no one," he said, demanding a full investigation into the circumstances of the 19-year-old's death.
