Pope Leo XIV has sent a letter to the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, His Grace Joan Pelushi.

In his letter, the Holy Father reminds Archbishop John that on May 18, the inauguration of his Petrine ministry will take place, which will be celebrated with a Solemn Mass in St. Peter's Square.

ARCHBISHOP OF TIRANA, DURRES AND ALL ALBANIA

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2).

With feelings of fraternal affection, I have the honor to announce to Your Beatitude that, following my election as Bishop of Rome and Pope of the Catholic Church, the inauguration of my Petrine ministry will be celebrated with a Solemn Mass in St. Peter's Square, on 18 May 2025. I kindly ask you to remember me in your prayers, so that with the help of Almighty God, I may worthily serve the Lord and His Church, in full fulfillment of my vocation.

With great joy I take this opportunity to exchange with Your Beatitude an embrace of peace in the Risen Christ.
