Durim Bami

The General Directorate of Prisons has accepted Durim Bami's request to be transferred from 313 to Fushë Krujë prison.

The request was made a few weeks ago, but has now been accepted by the new director, Adriatik Kupi, after being rejected by the previous director, Klevis Qose.

Bami requested the transfer one day after his extradition from Dubai, claiming that prison 313 in Tirana, IEVP 302 on "Mine Peza" street, as well as the Peqin and Reç prisons in Shkodra, contain people who pose a threat to his life.

According to the request, the Fushë-Krujë prison was considered the most suitable alternative. His lawyer Ilir Murati also raised allegations that Bami's health condition was not good, he was kept in unsuitable conditions and was experiencing constant stress due to the presence of persons arrested for murder and involvement in a structured criminal group.

Bami was declared an international wanted person, after the Special Court assigned him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Providing conditions and material means to commit murder", "Structured criminal group", "Cultivation of narcotic plants" and "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization or structured criminal group".

He is accused of having sought the elimination of former socialist MP Arben Ndoka, while the latter and other members of criminal groups wanted Bami dead. Ervis Martinaj had offered 1 million euros for his elimination.

While in February 2021, Bami, together with Endrit Doklen and Marklen Haka, planned the murder of Tori Xhecuka and Erigers Mihas, a friend of Ervis Martinaj who was killed in Tirana.

According to SPAK, Durim Bami led and financed a group that cultivated cannabis in Nikël and Bubq during December 2019–July 2020 and again in September 2020, administering the entire activity. He was assisted by former RENEA officer Altin Morina (arrested) and other unidentified individuals, who provided inside information and avoided police checks.
