Residents of the village of Ujë in Mirdita have been denouncing for years a serious problem that, according to them, is destroying their properties and endangering their lives.

They accuse the village headman, Roland Mrruku, of leaving his livestock - pigs, cows, sheep and bulls - uncontrolled and roaming freely through the fields, vineyards and yards of residents, causing considerable damage.

Luka Dodaj appeared in the editorial office of the Fiks Fare show, and she tearfully explained that her vineyards and crops have been completely destroyed. According to her, despite numerous complaints filed with the municipality, police and prosecutor's office, no one has taken concrete measures to resolve the situation. She says that the village headman owns about 30 pigs and several bulls, which not only damage property, but also pose a serious threat to the lives of the village residents.

The resident has made available to the editorial staff numerous complaints sent over the years to institutions, as well as the decision of the Lezha Prosecutor's Office, which decided not to initiate criminal proceedings with the argument that the value of the damage does not exceed 1 million lek.

The journalists go to the village and three other residents confirm the same situation. They say that the headman's cattle move freely through the village and enter private properties, destroying everything and creating constant fear. One of them says that the free bull in the village poses a serious danger, especially for children and the elderly.

Another resident says that she calls the headman every day to ask him to take the cattle from her property, but the situation repeats itself. According to the residents, the headman lives in Rrëshen, while he keeps the cattle in the village without any shepherd, leaving them free on other people's properties.

Confronted by the residents, the headman Roland Mrruku refuses to be filmed and during the debate claims that he has not damaged their property, describing the complaints as unfounded. He admits that the cattle were in the village, but states that this happened due to a death and that, according to him, when there was damage, he offered to compensate them.

The headman goes further, stating that there are currently no crops and that there is no problem with livestock entering residents' properties. He emphasizes that in the village “everything is done according to the laws of the village,” implying that traditional rules are above official law.

Meanwhile, residents feel abandoned by the institutions and demand urgent intervention, emphasizing that private property and safety of life cannot depend on “village law,” but on state law. They demand justice and protection, before the situation escalates into even more serious consequences.
