Albanian wanted by SPAK arrested in Spain

Spanish police have arrested an Albanian man wanted internationally for drug trafficking and participation in an organized criminal group.

He was hiding abroad to avoid a sentence that could reach up to 30 years in prison.

According to Spanish media, the arrest was made after the suspect had forged documents, registering as a Croatian citizen.

The data check revealed that an Interpol notice had been issued against him since May, at the request of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime.

Albanian authorities report that the arrested man was involved in a drug trafficking operation launched in September 2020, where he was communicating with known traffickers about a shipment destined for Italy.

He is also accused of warning his associates about a police search of his apartment, where 100 grams of heroin and signal jamming equipment were seized.

However, it is suspected that he had taken measures to hide the drugs and continue his criminal activity. The arrested man is currently awaiting extradition proceedings to Albania.
