Floods damage bridge in Dropull, isolate several villages

The intense rainfall of recent days has caused serious problems in the Gjirokastra region, where flooding has severely damaged the Glina Bridge in the Dropull Municipality. Due to the danger, vehicle traffic on the bridge has been completely suspended, isolating five villages connected by this axis.

The Prefect of Gjirokastra, Albana Hasanaj, confirmed that the situation requires emergency measures:

"As a result of the intense rainfall, we have damage to the Glina Bridge, which is currently blocked and traffic has been stopped in both directions for safety reasons. This is hindering traffic in five villages in the area. In cooperation with the local government and businesses in the area, we have assessed an alternative route to enable the necessary interventions. All emergency groups are on the ground and we have communicated with the Ministry of Defense to take measures," she said.

Local authorities are working to guarantee the movement of residents and provide temporary solutions until the intervention on the bridge begins.
