The Supreme Court overturns the decision of the Criminal Court of Kosovo and returns the case against the former mayor of Has, Adem Lala, for trial with another panel of judges.
In two instances of the GJKKO, the former local official was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison in connection with the privatization of a public building in Has, for abuse of office.
But after the appeal was filed, four years after this process, the third instance of the judiciary has decided to overturn the Appeals decision, issued on June 17, 2021, and return it for trial in the same court, but with a different judicial body.
Lala and a municipal employee were charged in connection with the privatization of a public building in the Municipality of Has.
Due to the shortened trial, he was ultimately sentenced to 8 months, while the court suspended this sentence, converting it into a probation period of 1 year and 4 months (suspended sentence).
The court also decided to exclude Lala from public office for 5 years. We recall that Adem Lala took office as mayor of Has in 2015.
