The Special Prosecutor's Office has stated that it will appeal the decision of GJKKO to revoke the security measure 'house arrest' against  Sali Berisha.

In a reaction to News24, SPAK has also stated that the preliminary hearing for the trial on the merits of the case continues.

"Once the Special Prosecutor's Office is familiar with the clarified decision of the Special Court of First Instance against Corruption and Organized Crime, it will continue the appeal procedure in the Special Court of Appeal. Meanwhile, the preliminary hearing for the trial on the merits of the case continues in the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime" , says the reaction of SPAK.

We remind you that Berisha was under house arrest from December 30, 2023.

"The replacement of coercive personal security measures "compulsion to appear before the judicial police" provided by article 234 of the Penal Code and "Prohibition of leaving the country" provided for by article 233 of the Criminal Code, determined by decision No. 112, dated 20.10.2023, verified by decision no. 117 dated 26.10.2023, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, left in force by decision no. 56 dated 21.11.2023, of the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with the measure of coercive personal security "house arrest", provided by article 237 of the Penal Code, against the citizen under investigation Sali Berisha, of son of Ram and Shiqere, born on 15.10.1944, born in Tropoja, with no. personal E40701031R, suspected of committing the criminal offense "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials", carried out in collaboration, provided for by article 260 and 25 of the Criminal Code",  it was stated in the decision of the GJKKO dated December 30 2023.

Sali Berisha has been charged by the Special Court for the criminal offense of corruption together with his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, for the "Partizani" file.

Both Berisha and Malltezi have opposed them, describing the decision to place them under house arrest as an attempt to annihilate the opposition.
