Fredi Beleri, the controversial character from the Albanian Progeny, seems to be unable to find peace even in the European Parliament, where Greek Prime Minister Kirjako Miçotaqis sent him as a sign of revenge for the clashes he had with politics in Albania.
Beleri, convicted three times by courts in Greece and Albania for serious criminal offenses, and accused of terrorism, has revealed the "traitor" in the European Parliament, but this time he is... Greek!
The clash began after Beleri requested that a group of MEPs visit "the villages of the Greek national minority" in Albania as well as Famagusta in Cyprus, to see, according to him, the serious violations being committed against minorities in these areas.
But his initiative was ignored and failed miserably, failing to gain support. It did not even receive the vote of Greek MEP Kyriakos Velopoulos, a New Democracy and EPP MEP.
This has caused Beleri to publicly launch a harsh attack on him, calling him an opportunist seeking to score political points, while saying that it is Beleri himself who fights for and represents the Greek people in Europe.
"For so many days I have chosen not to respond to Mr. Velopoulos and his mud, out of respect for the victims of the Tempi accident and their families. However, everything has its limits," Beleri tells the Greek MP.
"...we had submitted proposals some time ago for the committee to visit the villages of the Greek national minority and in Famagusta, in order to ascertain the violations of the property and human rights of the Greeks of Albania, as well as the brutal consequences of the ongoing illegal Turkish occupation and occupation. These proposals, unfortunately, were not supported in practice by Mr. Velopoulos' ECR political group", explains Beleri.
"From this alone it is clear who made behind-the-scenes consultations and dubious alliances with the Left, in order to come up with an off-the-agenda proposal for the second half of 2026 for purely petty political purposes."
"This is Kyriakos Velopoulos. Another opportunist, who does not hesitate to discredit our country abroad, expecting political benefits," Beleri further declares.
