Asphalt factory poisons neighborhood in Kamëz, company justifies itself by

Fiks Fare denounced an asphalt factory on "Argjinatura" street in Kamëz, which pollutes and poisons an entire neighborhood, while the private company justifies itself by saying that it has conducted self-monitoring, while the local government justifies itself by saying that the ministry has granted the permits.

The investigative show's editorial office received complaints from residents of the area, who complain that the company "KUPA", which has a factory in the area that produces concrete, is polluting the environment. Fiksi's camera filmed the pollution and the factory, which was emitting smoke not only from the chimney, but also from other parts.

Two families in that area tell Fiksi that their lives have become difficult, there is dust and a strong smell, the situation is alarming. "Now we have to take the weapons, because we can't deal with them. They don't even have filters or anything. All the dust comes into our apartments. I had heart surgery and how can I live here," says one of them, also showing the scar on his chest from the surgery.

Meanwhile, they show us the premises of the house, the car covered in dust. "Our children come, they stay for 1 day and leave. They can't live here. That factory is owned by PEPA, but they don't want to bother taking action. They tell us today and tomorrow and nothing. We have also complained to the Municipality of Kamza, the municipal police came and told us that they will take action. So far, nothing," they claim.

One of them calls a Municipal Police officer in Kamza, who tells her that “the ministry issues permits.” She admits that she was in the area a month ago, but her “hands are tied” by the documents, despite the entire neighborhood being covered in smoke.

After these complaints, the Fiks Fare group goes to the Kupa asphalt factory, where they film the moment of pollution and work. From the footage, it is quite clear that the factory is emitting smoke from all sides and not just from the chimney. "It's emitting because it has wet material," says an employee, as he also calls the owner's son.

The journalists talk on the phone with Mr. Arjan Kupa, the owner's son, who tells them that the smell of asphalt comes from the construction sites and the roads they are building in the neighborhood and not from the asphalt factory. Then, Fiksi sends him a video where the factory is emitting smoke from all sides and after a few minutes he comes to the construction site.

In the previous conversation, he admitted that the materials cause pollution, while he has ordered filters and they will be delivered. He initially admitted that part of the asphalt factory does not have filters and will fix them, while later he denied it, saying that "there is an environmental permit and we have done self-monitoring."

The Fiks Fare group goes to the Municipality of Kamza, where they interview the Deputy Mayor. The Deputy Mayor said that he was unaware of the problem in question, while the Municipal Police themselves had gone to that construction site 1 month ago and had not taken any measures. After receiving the information from Fiks, the Municipality of Kamza said that it would launch an inspection group.
