Serious defect in the main supply line, water cut off for 9 thousand residents in Rrëshen

A serious defect in the main drinking water supply line has caused an interruption in the supply for 9,000 residents of the town of Rrëshen and several surrounding villages in the Municipality of Mirdita. The damage occurred in the early hours of Friday, resulting in an immediate water cut.

Employees of the Water Supply and Sewerage Service have carried out field verifications and have determined that there is serious damage to a length of 85 m of this supply line, which requires specialized intervention and special technical tools.

Due to the difficult terrain and deteriorating weather conditions, the intervention is difficult and dangerous, and the Lezha Regional Water Supply and Sewerage Company does not have the full technical capacity to immediately repair this defect, while work is underway to provide the necessary assistance for a final resolution of the situation.

Today, through alternative technical solutions, a partial supply of drinking water has been made to the city of Rrëshen, while some villages continue to remain without drinking water. The Civil Emergencies in the Lezha Prefecture announce that work is underway to restore normal supply in these areas as well and the situation is being monitored.
