In Thursday's hearing against former President Ilir Meta and former MP Monika Kryemadhi, SPAK continued with the reading of the request for trial.
Prosecutor Sotir Kllapi said: "After administering the LSI bank accounts, it turned out that out of the 416 thousand dollars reported by the company, 93 thousand were paid by LSI itself. We have continued the investigations into the services provided by this company, GSIS. The company has shown that at various times it has secured meetings for Mr. Meta with officials from the Department of Justice or Agriculture. It turns out that payments were made even beyond the 3-month period provided for in the contract. This company has shown that it has sent people contracted by it to Albania several times. We are interested in their activity. Given that some of these citizens have been near the "R..." hotel, we have verified the invoices. It turned out that some of the payments were made by Adrian Shatku, or from this person's cards. For this fact, we assess that the payments in the USA on behalf of LSI were also made by this person."
The prosecutor added: "We have sent a letter of request to the US and we were able to identify several accounts of Shatku. From the letter of request, it resulted that GSIS has invoiced LSI 18 invoices, almost 40 thousand USD. From the bank documentation, it resulted that 3 invoices were paid from LSI accounts. The other invoices were paid by Adrian Shatku. From the total, it results that GSIS has issued LSI 18 invoices. 3 of them paid by LSI. 12 by Unify Com INC (Shatku's company). While we have no data for the amount of 93 thousand dollars. We claim that the amount of 279 thousand dollars is the product of corruption, but a way has also been found to launder them. They were served as legal payments, while they are a direct benefit of corruption. Mr. Meta, in his capacity as the chairman of LSI, has committed "money laundering".
