Conversations on SKY ECC reveal cocaine trafficking between Milan and Turin,

According to the Italian media outlet Corriere della Calabria, investigations by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office have uncovered a vast cocaine trafficking network with strong links to the 'Ndrangheta mafia organization, which operated mainly between Milan and Turin. The focus of the investigation is Giuseppe Grillo, who, after several important hits by the authorities, sought support from criminal intermediary Bartolo Bruzzaniti to secure new drug supplies hidden in Italian territory.

Grillo reportedly suffered heavy losses after a 450-kilogram shipment of cocaine was seized in Colombia. Communications revealed on the SKY ECC platform show his concern about the drug shortage and the financial damage being caused to the criminal network.

In conversations, he also spoke about the strong competition from Albanian groups and mafia clans from the San Luca and Piana areas, which, according to him, had taken great control of the market by significantly reducing cocaine prices.

To recoup their losses and continue their activities, Grillo and Bruzzaniti reached an agreement for the supply of 25 kilograms of cocaine, with a value exceeding 800 thousand euros. According to the investigation, the payments and distribution of the drugs were organized through their associates in Calabria.

CORRIERE DELLA CALABRIA article:

Desperation and shock. To the point of asking for help from other criminal organizations, in a "loyal competition" relationship. This seems to have been the context that pushed one of the most well-known cocaine traffickers in Italy, linked to the 'Ndrangheta and active in the Lombardy territory and beyond, to turn to other supply channels.

Giuseppe Grillo had hired powerful middleman Bartolo Bruzzaniti with the aim of negotiating the purchase of large quantities of cocaine, possibly already stored in Italy, to avoid new "unpleasant surprises". The two have ended up at the center of an investigation by the Milan prosecutor's office into the businesses of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta clans in the area between Milan and Turin.

Huge cocaine losses

At the heart of everything were large seizures that had caused serious losses, calculated by investigators even in tons. According to the Milanese investigations, Grillo had become the buyer of parts of cocaine shipments coming from South America together with two important criminal figures: Rocco Morabito and Vincenzo Pasquino, both arrested in Brazil in May 2021.

Grillo, in particular, complained about having lost a shipment of 450 kilograms of cocaine, seized in Colombia. “See if they give it to me cheaper / With 33 no / See if you will give me a little because I know it is yours”. This was the tone of the messages exchanged on SKY ECC. The sender was Grillo himself, under the pseudonym “Putin”, while writing to Bruzzaniti alias “Paris”.

"I'm out of money / the last 450", wrote "Putin", referring precisely to the shipment seized in Colombia and destined for Italy via Ukraine, attaching the photo of the news to the conversation. "I also know that you got 800 / and then you got a lot / 1100", Grillo wrote again to Bruzzaniti. Then the request: "Look at the price / because I had 1.5 million".

"They have destroyed us"

"11 out of 11 / and here every day these Albanians and those from Piana unload / there is a lot of talk, these people from San Luca have destroyed everything for us."

In addition to the heavy seizures and the lack of "goods", the situation would have been worsened by the fall in cocaine prices on the market. According to investigators, this decrease was caused in particular by the introduction of poor-quality drugs on the market by the San Luca and Piana clans, supplied by Albanians. It was at this point that Grillo would have asked Bruzzaniti again for additional drugs, a kind of "support", also asking for favorable prices.

The goal would have been to strengthen the relationship between them and counter the growing power of the Albanians. “If we manage to fight the price of these Albanians / if there is a price, we find two or three warehouses and you will see that we fight,” Grillo wrote. And again, negotiating the price: “Not at 33 / see if you will give me a little / because I know it is yours.”

Grillo's accounts: "350 + 300 + 100"

At the request of his friend and partner, Bartolo Bruzzaniti decided to sell Grillo 25 kilograms of cocaine at a price of 32,500 euros per kilogram, for a total of 812,500 euros. As reconstructed by investigators through conversations on SKY ECC, the two also agreed on the delivery: "Then tomorrow morning at 5 it's fine / he brings the money / if he comes I'll bring 400", Grillo wrote, referring to 400 thousand euros.

The rest of the payment would end with an installment of 350 thousand euros at the time of delivery and other payments also recorded in Grillo's own personal accounts. "You asked when / because I gave 350 +300+100 it comes out? / Check if they have recorded / that I gave 350 / look that there were 300 with 500 and a package of 50 / I was supposed to bring 400 / and I brought 350", wrote Grillo alias "Putin".

"Rolando, look, arrange with your friend to withdraw the 300 thousand euros to Bianco. Do it directly, ok". According to the investigative documents, Bruzzaniti had organized with his people to receive the money from Grillo's emissaries sent to Bianco. "Friend, where in Bianco do you want to go? Is the bar at the entrance okay?", Bruzzaniti wrote. A little later, confirmation: "It was delivered".

Drugs for partner Papalia

According to the investigators' reconstruction, Giuseppe Grillo had then contacted his partner Domenico Papalia, who was already aware of the agreement with the intermediary Bruzzaniti. According to the investigations and the conversations deciphered on SKY Ecc, Papalia would have been entitled to a share of just over 17 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs would have been delivered on the afternoon of January 8, 2021 by Grillo's people.

“I'll bring you 17,” he wrote to Papalia. “For now, take these / 17 that are ready in hand.” “I'm in Siderno, I'm coming back,” Papalia replied. “I'll be home in 2 minutes.”
