The father of 19-year-old Myrto, who lost her life mysteriously, has spoken in shock to Greek media about his daughter who passed away.
As he describes, the last moments they spent together remain etched in his memory.
"I had advised her about everything," he says, trying to contain his emotions. She would tell me: "Dad, I'm careful, don't worry."
It was a common conversation between parents and children, as he says, except it would be one of the last.
The 19-year-old was getting ready to go out that night. Her father remembers her as smiling and full of life.
"I was proud of her. She was beautiful, happy, no one could have imagined what would happen next," he said.
The tragic outcome has shocked the entire country. The young girl was found abandoned on the street, fighting for her life alone. The circumstances of the incident have caused anger and sadness as those responsible are sought.
However, for her father, time stood still in those final moments. "I can't stand it. We just got home from the funeral," he said.
His mind constantly returns to his last meeting with his daughter and he wonders what he could have done differently.
"I wish I hadn't left that night. It's a thought that torments many parents who are in my position, who have lost their children, and this "if" that never finds an answer torments you day after day. I urge all parents to wake up and stay with their children, before it's too late. I lost Myrto forever and all I want is to go and see him."
