The US Embassy in Tirana has repeated its warning that foreign nationals who commit crimes, incite violence against Americans, or are considered a threat to national security will lose their US visa.
The message was distributed on behalf of the US Department of State, as part of the policy of President Donald Trump's administration.
"Under President Trump's leadership, the State Department is revoking the visas of foreign nationals who commit crimes, incite violence against Americans, or threaten our national security," the embassy said in a post.
In early August, the US State Department announced that since Donald Trump returned to the White House, over 175,000 visas for foreign nationals have been canceled. According to US authorities, these are people who are suspected of violating visa conditions, committing crimes, defrauding US authorities, abusing the immigration system or being considered a threat to national security.
According to the State Department, the cases include people charged with drunk driving, assault, theft, drug offenses, domestic violence, child abuse and fraud. The list of cases also includes people accused of rape, trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor.
US authorities have also announced that measures have been taken against foreign nationals who, according to them, violate US foreign policy interests. According to the State Department, the number of visas canceled since Trump's return is about four times higher than during the last year of the Biden administration.
